The phenomenon of negative weight gain in piglets within 1 week after weaning is called systemic wasting syndrome after weaning. The syndrome has different degrees of influence on growth status, survival rate, and future growth and development of piglets during the nursery period. Based on my years of feeding experience, the author describes the preventive measures for the disease as follows:

1. Grasp the feeding and management of pregnant sows, increase the birth weight of piglets and the lactation rate of sows

The traditional mode of feeding pregnant sows is to "grab the middle between the two." This method is more general in terms of time, and it is not easy to grasp the timing of arguing. Excessive fertilization results in too much sow and a reduced feed intake at later stages, which affects the growth of the embryo during embryonic development and the development of the mammary glands. According to the developmental rules of the embryo and mammary gland, we can divide the gestation period into five stages for raising, so as to increase the birth weight of the piglets and the lactation rate of the sows so as to obtain better birth weight of the piglet. The stage division and feeding requirements are: 4 to 30 days of pregnancy, feeding 1.8 to 2.5 kg per day; 31 to 60 days, 1.2 to 1.8 kg per day; 61 to 85 days, 1.8 to 2.5 kg per day; 86 to 100 days, daily 2.8 to 3 kg; 101 days to 2 days before delivery, 3.5 to 4 kg per day.

Second, early piglet insulation, iron, feed

Early piglet heat preservation, iron supplementation, and feed supplementation can enhance the piglet's physique, exercise the gastrointestinal function of piglets, and reduce the occurrence of intestinal diseases. The weaned piglet has large individuals, complete gastrointestinal function, good digestive function, large feed intake, and low systemic consumption after weaning. Generally, after the piglets are born, heat preservation is performed. Iron is supplemented at 1 to 3 days, and feeding is started at 5 days. Normal feeding is started around the age of 18 days, and weaning can be basically performed after 1 week.

Third, implement weekly management to prevent mixed piglets of different ages

Weekly management means that the farm's production operations are managed on a weekly basis. Set a day to adjust the herd within 1 week. When the nursery pigs are transferred to the pig house one day. Weaned on that day. The piglets are transferred to the nursery house one day. The pig house should be planned in advance. In order to avoid weaning and co-infestation of piglets with one-week-old piglets at the same time in order to avoid cross-infection of diseases of different ages and individual bullying and bullying.

Fourth, reduce stress

Weaning stress and stress in the new environment are likely to cause pigs to eat and sleep abnormally or even develop morbidity, leading to physical consumption. When the piglet is close to the weaning period, it can artificially reduce the number of times the sow is sucked, or reduce the sow's nutritional level and feed intake, so that it can turn its attention to the feed and avoid severe stress caused by sudden weaning. At the same time, the nursery should try to create a dry, warm and clean environment that will make the piglets comfortable and thus reduce the stress of the new environment.
